Alexander Lloyd Moran (Contra-Mestre Salsicha)

Contra-Mestre Salsicha has studied Capoeira for over 15 years and was first exposed to it at the age of 8 at the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco. He has studied numerous Martial Art and Dance styles which he brings to his teaching. He recently moved back to the Bay Area from Eugene, OR, where he lead a Capoeira group for two years.

As well as a Capoeira instructor, Salsicha is a White Water Raft Guide and has a Bachelor's in Physics from SFSU.

Starting in April Contra-Mestre Salsicha will be teaching Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7:30pm at Danzhaus.

Susan Osterhoff (Professora Formiguinha)

Formiguinha began training capoeira in 1998 with Capoeira USA, under world-renowned Mestre Urubu Malandro, She has spent time living and training in Brazil, as well as traveling to events and workshops around the US, Brazil, and England. As a core member of Capoeira USA, Formiguinha has brought capoeira into the performance spotlight with San Francisco performance troupes Capacitor, FlavorGroup, and Vau de Vire Society, at performances including San Francisco Hip Hop Dancefest, Vegoose Music Festival in Las Vegas, and The Crucible's Fire Arts Festival.

Formiguinha has worked with children and adults, teaching gymnastics, tumbling, capoeira, and maculêle for youth for over 7 years. She was most recently invited as an honored guest instructor at Sul Da Bahia's Women's Capoeira Encounter in Santa Barbara, CA and Gingarte Capoeira's 5th Annual Women's Event in Chicago, Illinois. In March 2008 Formiguinha was recognized for her accomplishments in capoeira at Capoeira USA's Formatura e Troca de Cordões, where she graduated as a "Professora" of Capoeira in front of some of the most legendary capoeira Mestres from across Brazil and the US.

Formiguinha holds a B.S. in Communications from University of Michigan, a certificate in Child Development from City College of San Francisco, and is faculty at CCSF in the Child Development and Family Studies Department. She is co-founder of San Francisco non-profit organization Project Commotion (www.projectcommotion.org).

 

 
 


Ryan Molyneaux (Professor Montanha)

Before discovering Capoeira in 1996 at a visit to Mestre Vaguinho’s academy in San Jose, Montanha spent years training in various martial arts including Kung Fu, Kuk Sool Wan, Muay Thai, and Jujitsu. Upon finding Capoeira, Montanha knew he had found his art and passion, training with Mestres Preguica, Beicola, and Carlos Aceituno before finding Mestre Urubu in San Francisco.

Montanha has travelled to numerous Capoeira events and Batizados in the United States, learning from many of the great masters from Brasil as well as those residing in the U.S. In 2007, Montanha travelled to Brasil to train and experience Capoeirence and Capoeirando 2007 with Mestre Suassuna.

In March 2008 Montanha was recognized for his accomplishments at Capoeira USA's Formatura e Troca de Cordões, where he graduated as a "Professor" of Capoeira in front of some of the most legendary capoeira Mestres from across Brazil and the US.

Montanha has performed in dozens of shows with Capoeira USA around the San Francisco bay area, California, and Las Vegas, spreading the art of Capoeira and its awareness to many people and communities.

Montanha is also a Musician and Marketing professional in San Francisco. He resides in Pacifica, California where he intends to expand Capoeira to it's community and assist Mestre Urubu in teaching for Capoeira USA in Pacifica and the Bay Area.
